Strategic Branding & Design
Kim Hayhurst is a seasoned communications and marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations and communities bring their stories to life. With a background that blends strategic thinking, creative execution, and hands-on leadership, Kim’s work spans sectors, from post-secondary and government to tourism, non-profit, and small business.
Her core strength lies in strategic brand development, where she combines visual storytelling, graphic design, and illustration to build brands that resonate deeply with their audiences. Whether launching a regional tourism identity, supporting a crisis communications response, or guiding a team through a website redevelopment, Kim approaches every project with curiosity, clarity, and a deep respect for place and people.
Throughout her career, she has led high-impact initiatives like the 25th Anniversary campaign for UNBC, regional economic development branding for over 60 communities across Northern BC, and community-focused storytelling through The Makerie, a creative maker space she founded in 2020. Her portfolio includes media relations, marketing planning, content development, stakeholder engagement, and community programming.
Kim is known as a skilled generalist with a designer’s eye, a strategist’s mindset, and a collaborative, practical approach. She’s just as comfortable illustrating a heritage-inspired icon set as she is developing a comprehensive marketing plan or facilitating a community engagement session.
Rooted in Northern BC, Kim is deeply involved in the arts and creative community and brings a community-centred ethos to everything she does. At the heart of her work is a belief in building meaningful, accessible, and authentic experiences through design, through storytelling, and through connection.
